I'm Still Writing After What, Two Years?

Yes, I'm still writing. Hooray! Who could have ever guessed. Since that last post, I've improved a ton. (Well, obviously. I was only eleven when I wrote and posted my fanfiction "Sign In The Water.") Recently, I've picked up free verse poetry writing, won NaNoWriMo in 2014, been published 3 times, talked to several other published authors, started a couple novels, and joined a writing club. So, here's a poem to satisfy the obvious lack of writing posts...

Hand in Hand in Hand

Have words whispered to you

so often in your ear?

so many words of anger that

the anger turns to fear?

Have you spent so many years

putting up a wall?

A wall so high and mighty that

you can't get through at all?

Have you said to people

"Of course I am okay"

to find them coming to you

taking that away?

Have you been  broken, taken down

by other people's words?

Just like that protective wall

surrounded by your lonely birds?

Do you have the courage to

stand up for what is right?

to rise up tall, take a stand,

maybe even fight?

Can you make a promise

to help others in the sand?

If you will, I promise you

We'll rise up
